Maintaining your to do list and social life with a new LO can seem like quite a daunting task. But, never fear! Baby made EZ is here with 5 baby traveling tips that are sure to get you off on the right start.
Baby Traveling Tip 1: Turn your stroller into a purse
For starters, the last thing you need is to be lugging around an extra bag (one that you are more likely to leave somewhere when baby is in tote)! Strollers these days come equipped with extra storage compartments. If your baby is normally with you, you can also consider consolidating to the diaper bag. If you absolutely need an extra bag, the Mommy hook is a great way to carry things directly on the stroller. It also makes for super great grocery help!
Baby Traveling Tip 2: Bring everything you need to keep baby on schedule
For our son, nap times are critical so I bring his three major nap cues: white noise, bear paci, and breathable blanket EVERYWHERE we go, even if he’s not due to nap for a while. I also bring whatever I need to keep him on his specific feeding schedule. My son can count on when and how he eats and sleeps and this dependability can make all the difference.
Baby Traveling Tip 3: Don’t overpack
On that note, not everything is equally important to every baby. Some babies may not need such a specific feeding/sleeping routine, but may need a specific toy or story. Some babies may be prone to messiness and need clothes to change into or be sensitive to temperature changes and need items for that. Know your baby and focus on bringing what really works for you.
Baby Traveling Tip 4: Have a back up plan for changes
Not every place has a changing table, so make sure you have a back up plan for changing in the car. Changing liners, normal diapers and wipes of course, and disposable odor blocking bags, are some great things to keep in the car or in your diaper bag.
Baby Traveling Tip 5: Just do it
I remember the days when just getting my baby outside for a 20 minuet walk was practically a major life event. Our little guy hated the car and it took lots of work to keep him from having a melt down every time we went ANYWHERE! (I have an article about that here). Now, we can go everywhere with a little prep and very minimal hassle. That took time, practice, and some major fails. So, just do it! You’ll be glad you did and your social life is out there, calling your name, hoping you’ll answer…….
